I WAN’T TO LOSE WEIGHT BUT I AM NOT ABLE TO …

One of the most common complaints I have heard from my clients till now is “No matter what I do, I am not able to lose weight!”

Why is it so? Is losing weight such a big deal? No … it is not actually a big deal but a collection of small deals which needs to be given equal attention and resolved.

The actual reason why many people are not able to lose weight is this “While they do one thing correctly which helps them lose weight, they do ‘n’ no of things wrongly which makes them gain weight.

One cannot lose weight by
• Going for an early morning walk without fail and following a sedentary lifestyle for the rest of the day by sitting continuously in your cubicle from 9 to 6 or more than that …
• Working out in the gym religiously followed by junk food intake …
• Taking care of your diet but neglecting medical conditions like hypothyroidism ….
And so on …

As you might have observed, you are doing more things which is making you gain weight rather than losing it.
Now, having known this, how do you win your weight loss battle? Let me give you a few tips …

1. KNOW YOUR BODY
Understand that each person’s body is unique. While on the outside, there may be similarity wrt height or weight, the body metabolism may differ from person to person. The weight-loss plan which works for one person may not work for another. Understand your body type and CUSTOMIZE your weight loss plan accordingly. Also, if you have certain medical conditions like hypothyroidism which is a known cause for being over-weight, take the required medical help and plan accordingly.

2. FOOD IS A CATALYST FOR WEIGHT LOSS
The common mistake done by people is NOT EATING in a bid to lose weight. No! That’s not the right way! Your body needs energy to burn calories. One of the sources of that energy is THE RIGHT FOOD AT THE RIGHT TIME IN THE RIGHT QUANTITY! Not eating, over-eating, junk foods, midnight snacks, irregular eating habits are a BIG NO!

3. AVOID THIS WEIGHT- GAINING LIFE-STYLE
A sedentary lifestyle is one of the worst ways of piling on weight. It is absolutely of no use if you religiously go for a morning walk daily and then sit throughout the day confined to your cubicle. This not only increases your weight but also leads to other complications going forward …

4. DID YOU KNOW THAT A CERTAIN BEVERAGE CAN HELP FOR WEIGHT LOSS?
Having 2-3 cups of piping hot green tea daily WITHOUT MILK, WITHOUT SUGAR not only speeds up weight loss but also helps one maintain it. It has a huge array of health benefits too. So , what is there to lose? Start having it!

5. GYMING FOR SLIMMING
I mentioned that a sedentary lifestyle needs to be avoided but at the same time, it has to be replaced with something else. It is a body-cum mind improving activity. Gym is just one on the examples .. You can choose an activity of your choice. It could be Yoga, Aerobics, Swimming etc. The important part here is to thoroughly enjoy doing it.

6. SLEEPING
Yes … You heard it right! Sleep properly to lose weight. Your body needs approximately 6-8 hours of sound sleep every night – not more, not less. Not following this will lead to weight gain.

7. STRESS – A MAJOR KILLER OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DREAM
The root cause in several cases of weight gain is STRESS. In this state, your mind tricks you into over-eating to combat stress. This over-eating becomes a habit. Craving for sugary items and junk foods add to this mess. The culprit is the stress hormone, Cortisol. Unless and until you find out the root cause and combat stress, you will not be able to conquer over your weight issues!

Now, you might be wondering that all the 7 factors which I mentioned are so disconnected wrt each other and a few are remotely connected to weight loss. Yes! That’s right! If you follow only a few of the tips I mentioned earlier, you may not be able to achieve the desired weight loss. All the 7 tips which I shared are indeed connected to each other. It is rather like a chain reaction. Like I mentioned in the beginning, losing weight is not actually a big deal but a collection of small deals which needs to be given equal attention and resolved.
