Are you at a cross roads of your career or personal life? If you are and do not have a clue about which road to follow, do not be surprised. Most of the successful people, have also gone through the same predicament.
Much of my work as a “Life & Wellness Coach” involves working with people, who are often wrestling with important decisions. As always the cost of being wrong can be substantial. The biggest problem in getting stuck is the “Time Factor”.
I have seen people go on for months, if not years & eventually get into a feeling of not moving in any particular direction in life. Some of the things which each one of you can do to get unstuck are –
Take a Long Hard look in the mirror:
Most of the time, when someone reaches out to me they have not asked themselves, as to what is actually stopping them in their life. When you step back and ask this question, I will guarantee you that you will touch upon the areas you are not comfortable with.
If you’re not entirely honest with yourself, about what’s stopping you or likely to stop you from achieving your goals, you’ll never get there. As Life Coaches, it is imperative that we need to get the individual to this thought process sooner than later.
In my experience over the years I have seen that you can overcome temporary paralysis in the mind, when you step back & jump onto this question.
Figure out next as to what is that you do want:
If you do not know where you want to go, then any road will take you there. I remember these words from the book “Alice in Wonderland”. More often than not I have seen people living this logic and feeling frustrated.
With so many opportunities in the world, we are spoilt for choice in our professional or personal lives. You have to lay out your options on the table and eliminate the unwanted ones, to narrow down on to a couple of areas, which are the most important.
There is always a danger of being all over the map in this journey called life, if you do not focus on what you want and work towards it.This is one of the “key reason” why working with a Life Coach will help you to be focused in this journey.
Emotions are important inputs in decision making:
I am a big believer that good decision making in our life depends upon our Emotional state which can be a powerful & effective guide to choosing well. Once you get a grip on your own emotions, it is easier to ride the wave of doubts, indecision and procrastination.
Working on this aspect is not a one glove fits all approach, but a series of steps that one can do. To begin with, the easiest thing would be to envision ourselves in the future. This will help the mind in creating the neural pathways which at a later stage can be strengthened.
Work on an Action plan & do it:
I come across many people who want things to happen, but do not stick to make it happen(sounds familiar). A couple of clients, whom I had to let go in the first four weeks of my Coaching fell in this category. After all nothing worth getting in life is easy.
Work on a systematic doable action plan, which is more of a step up method. Working on big goals is never easy, but is simple when you do the right things at the right time. Put up your action plan and work on it daily. Do not despair if you do falter. You need to get up and keep going.
At the end of the day, that is what will make you move out of your comfort zone.
If you have come till here, then I am more than convinced, that you can walk through any Adversity. If you do want someone who has worked with people over the years, to help them get to their destination, then take the time to sign up for a “No Obligatory Strategy session” where we can discuss this in real.
As always I look forward to hearing from you on my mail Id coach@satishrao.in or on my Face Book Fan page.
I would appreciate, if you could share this with your friends & family, if you have found this useful.
