Almost all executives have little or no control over their lifestyles. Their schedules are often crazy, hectic and unmanageable.
For every single project they complete, three new ones crop up and they’re always busy catching up. The severe pressure leads to compromises on their health which begins to deteriorate day after day.
If you’re an executive, chances are you are going through a similar situation in your life as well.
And it’s high time for you to think and re-examine your life’s priorities.
What is important – your family and health, or the company and clients?
For the company and the clients, your health doesn’t matter. All they care about is the results.
It doesn’t matter what position you hold or how much you are paid. Ultimately, you’re a disposable entity to the company and the client.
The moment you stop performing, they will replace you. And even if you drop dead, they are going to find someone else within a week.
But to your family, it isn’t the case. You are irreplaceable.
So it’s important for you to take your health seriously. It doesn’t have to be a drastic change.
Just start slowly and make incremental changes. They will have tremendous impact over the next few months and years.
With that said, here are 4 simple tips to help you take control of your health and start losing weight…
Keep Only Healthy Food In The Kitchen:
Go into your kitchen and find all the junk food, sugary snacks and all other processed foods and give it away or throw it out. It may be painful to throw those foods away, but that’s one of the best things you can do.
The moment you’re pressed for time, you will try to pick up food or snacks that are readily available. If it’s junk food, you will definitely pick it up.
But if you remove them and replace it with only healthy foods, you’ll be left with no choice but to eat the healthy foods.
This will not only help you burn fat, but will also increase your energy levels and allow you to perform better at work.
Schedule Your Workouts:
There are some incredibly busy top notch executives, who continually make time for exercise regardless of their work commitments. Do you want to know their secret?
It’s their schedule. They schedule their workouts just like any other appointment during the day.
And that’s what enables them to workout day in and day out without fail. They follow up on the schedule just like all other appointments and meetings they have on their plate.
I always encourage my clients to put in their workouts and diet goals in a scheduler or smart phone planner. This ensures that you follow it up just like your other commitments.
Walk away from sugary foods and caffeinated drinks:
Most overworked executives are hard pressed for time and turn to stimulants loaded with high sugar and empty calories to give them energy surges throughout the day. These drinks may give you a high initially but you’ll notice a crash and burn within a 30 – 45 minute period.
Repeating the energy cycle with another drink is definitely NOT a healthy choice. Instead, look at healthier options like Green Tea, fruit snack or a combination of proteins and healthy carbs.
Find A Compatible, Effective Exercise Partner:
I am a big believer in the fact that “two heads are always better than one” and it’s no different when it comes to exercise. Finding a compatible and effective exercise partner is one of the best things you can do to improve your health.
Your exercise partner needs to have goals that match what you want to accomplish. He/she must also be effective at the gym. There are some people who purely visit the gym for goofing off and are rarely consistent. You want to avoid those kinds of people.
When you have the right partner, you are more likely to be consistent in your workouts and they will be more enjoyable and fun. Humans are social animals and we always cherish for some good company.
