Hey there…
So it’s another year that has gone by and tomorrow, it’s going to be a new beginning.
You may have had goals that you wanted to accomplish this 2014. You may have achieved some of them, made some progress or failed on some of these goals.
Now if you’ve achieved any of those goals, you’ll have realized that accomplishing them was NO easy task. You needed to push yourself and maintain an optimistic mindset throughout in order to achieve them.
For some people, the desire and willingness to push themselves forward is natural. If you’re one of them, pat yourself on your back.
However, most people including me don’t have the trait naturally ingrained in us.
As a result, making progress on goals is NOT easy at all. In fact, there are many goals in my life where I’d have easily given up and failed if I didn’t consciously push myself forward.
If you struggled to make progress on your goals this year and would like to breakthrough your mental barriers and finally achieve them in the New Year, then you need to consciously change your thought process.
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the last few years. It starts with thinking big and walking the walk.
With that said, here are 3 mental barriers that you need to break to make 2015 your best year ever…
There Isn’t Enough Opportunity:
This is the most common complaint I hear from people who give up on their goals before they even make an attempt.
Opportunity is never served on a platter. You have to create your own opportunities and take it. You need to earn them.
If you’ve been waiting all along for the perfect opportunity, you better change your mindset right now.
Someone else is NOT going to give you an opportunity. You have to create an opportunity for yourself – which is what successful people have done for centuries.
The only thing holding you back from creating and seizing an opportunity is YOU — and your willingness to try.
There Isn’t Enough Time:
One sad thing I’ve noticed among people is that they tend to fill up their schedule with several unimportant things and end up having no time at all for the important things in life.
I always repeatedly tell my clients that each one of us is given the same amount of time as everybody else and it’s up to us, to put it to use in the best manner.
Develop a systematic schedule first. Make sure that you allocate time daily to make progress on your goals. Focus on the important things first and then the trivial, unimportant activities.
And when you’re working, make sure you work all the time you work. Don’t get sucked in by useless banter, social media or other forms of distractions.
I Am Not Talented Enough:
Talent is NOT something that you’re naturally born with. It’s something that you develop by channelizing your efforts in a specific field. It’s something that is built one brick at a time.
Virat Kohli is someone who’s making statements in International Cricket. A few years ago, he was just a junior struggling for his place just like many of his other team-mates.
Many experts felt back then that Rohit Sharma is a far better batsman than Kohli. Some of them would still agree even today.
But Virat Kohli has flourished and is soon to be Indian Captain whereas Rohit Sharma is still struggling to keep his place in the side.
Both of them started on an even footing a few years ago. What’s the difference? It’s the application of effort.
And that’s what distinguishes successful people from the ordinary ones.
Successful people approach their goals with a bull dog attitude, a willingness to put in tremendous amount of hard work, effort, and perseverance – because that’s when talent develops.
When I speak with my clients, I always tell them not to focus on what you don’t have, but to focus on what you do have and build with it. We all possess certain skills and traits that make us unique.
All we need to do is leverage them for our own growth.
