How to make the most out of your career and Life

Lately, I have been hearing that nothing seems to be moving in one’s career or life because of one’s luck. This seems to elude them every time they work towards a goal. With so many negative things happening around us it is not surprising to see that most of us succumb to this negative vibe and eventually begin to accept defeat in life.

On the contrary have you ever noticed that unplanned events — chance occurrences — more often than not determines your life and career choices than all the careful planning that you do? A chance meeting, a broken appointment, a spontaneous vacation trip, a “fill-in” job, a newly discovered hobby — these are the kinds of experiences that lead to unexpected life directions and career choices. I for one have too many to put this down here in my Blog however the best option which is within our control is to create the situation and be flexible to work round it. some of the things you can do to create the life you want or the career change you are so desperately looking for is by following some of the tried and tested methods developed by some of the most successful people. When I read books on some of the most successful people across the world they recognize  create and act on opportunities which are in plenty all around us. Some of them are:

Take massive actions: Nothing will eventually happen without some action on a daily basis .Be persistent and have a workable plan. Work towards it, irrespective of facing rejections and rebuke. By taking daily actions one will be surprised as to how much of a distance one can travel over a short period of time. The problem I overcome with many of my clients with respect to taking massive action is for them to be accountable to themselves, which @ a sub-conscious level makes a world of a difference “if you are working towards life altering goals“. I went through this path over the last 12 months and the reason I have come so far in my journey to make a difference in people’s life  is by taking regular consistent massive actions.

Do not be scared to Try even if you are not sure of the outcome: I have realized that two of the ways to make a difference is to take calculated risks and embrace unexpected opportunities which comes in our way sometimes disguised as failures. Try to work on new things and remember that by only moving away from one’s comfort zone can one grow. That is where the biggest opportunities are always hidden. So far, life has never disappointed me when I walked through the door without knowing the outcome. At the least I have learnt some valuable lessons which are priceless to the kind of work I do with people across the globe.

Make the most of the unplanned events: Life always throws us surprises and we are constantly bombarded by the unexpected. Most of the time we tend to avoid unexpected events and do not want spontaneity in our life. My biggest learning over the years which I would like to share with each one of you is to relax, open your mind, roll with the unexpected and new opportunities will always unfold no matter what your challenge is.

Change the Island mindset: “Building and maintaining good relationships with other people is an important component for one’s success. Remember not to just reach out to people for your own growth – reach out to people with a genuine thought that you can help each other mutually. You never know how one chance meeting with a person can completely turn around your life for the better. Work on developing good connections with like minded people through many of the social network mediums which if used diligently will work wonderfully well.

Do not be afraid to make mistakes: Accept your mistakes and learn from it. This in the long run will be the best teacher and makes one wiser in the journey of life. I come across far too many people who are scared to step up for the simple reason that they are afraid to make mistakes. What I strongly believe is “If you can learn to react to mistakes constructively, you can improve your situation and get on with life”.

Work on developing a balanced Life: A person who leads a balanced life is happier, more relaxed, and more open to new experiences. If you maintain good relationships, pursue satisfying hobbies, go out of your way to help others and continue to pursue personal growth, you will become a well-rounded person. Just the sort that Life will pick on for making things happen. What I have learnt over the years is that if we focus too much on our goals then over a period of time we start to think in a one track mind. We will end up blocking the positives happening to us in our life.

Overcome self-sabotage: Finally in order to make the most of career & Life, you must learn to face down the greatest enemy “yourself”. Each of us is capable of thwarting good fortune through negative self-talk. We beat ourselves up over our pasts. We tell ourselves that we “can’t” do something before we even try. Positive affirmations and visualization does help here. I always make it a point with my clients to condition the mind to overcome self sabotage which according to me is the biggest hurdle each one of us face.

I always believed that you have control over your own actions and how you think about the events that impact your life. None us can control the outcomes but your actions can increase the probability that the desired outcomes will occur. There are no guarantees in life. The only guarantee is that doing nothing will get you nowhere.

Inaction is the surest path to failure. You cannot succeed if you never try. I sincerely hope that this Blog article has made you work on your thoughts and eventually make you get into action mode.
