Even though the human mind is extremely adaptive, it somehow tends to follow existing neural pathways. You need to consciously do something about it. Some of the steps you can take, to break the Negative mindset are –
Ask The Right Questions
You will find the right answers only if you ask the right questions. Asking the right question is the fundamental step towards breaking the Negative mentality. I have seen that “Open ended questions” always lead to answers.
In my opinion & experience Questions have the greatest gift of opening one’s mind to new viewpoints & possibilities. What is stopping you from encashing on this most effective technique, which incidentally is also the crux of coaching?
Begin & End Your Day On An Optimistic Note
This may sound simple, but believe me it is one of the most powerful actions you can take which is always in your absolute control. When you take control of two of the most important times of the day, it is just a matter of time before you begin to think & act positive.
Since you are working on conditioning your conscious mind (when you wake up) & the sub conscious mind (before you retire for the day) you are in a better position to help them complement each other, to work towards being more optimistic.
Be More Solution-Oriented
When you look towards a solution inwards, you are more often than not pulled towards taking actions rather than pushed towards it. My coaching sessions are filled with “Solution oriented questions” which will open your mind to the possibilities of the situation you are in.
When you begin to view challenges through this prism, you are more than certain to move forward even if it’s a tiny baby step. Getting to your biggest goals, starts with small steps & these are always the hardest.

Your Physical Self Is Also Important
When I began this journey of self transformation, I too was under the assumption that working on the conscious mind is what matters. However I realised sooner than later, that caring for our physical self the right way can minimize a whole bunch of problems/challenges in life.
I now believe that working out a couple of times a week, being disciplined in the sleep department and eating healthy, has a huge effect on the mindset. By focusing on these things, I have noticed that negative thoughts pop up far lesser than before. In fact, I can now say with conviction that it hardly does pop up.
Working on my Negative thinking over the years helped me to hold on when things looked bleak and uncertain. Living the action points mentioned above over the years has made me take action rather than give up.
It has helped me to put one foot over another, even when things around me looked darkened. The single most important thing you can do to work on your future is to work towards conditioning your mind to be more positive.
In my humble opinion, it is one of the biggest gifts you can give yourself. You will be amazed at how your own life can turn around completely when you begin to work at things through this mindset. Mine has over the years & still is. What should stop you from doing the same?
