Travelling is one of the greatest experiences one can have in our lifetime.
It’s one of those things that pushes you out of your comfort zone, teaches something about yourself and the world around you.
There are some things you’ll never learn by reading newspapers or by browsing your friend’s Facebook Newsfeed.
Travel teaches you some of these things.
For more than a decade, I have been an avid traveller. However, in the last few years, it hasn’t been that often. And my recent trip to Hampi last week once again reminded me of the benefits of travel.
With that said, here are a few real-life lessons that you can learn from taking a trip every now and then…
You can make the best of plans, but not all things will go your way:
Last week was an extremely long weekend and large crowds were expected at some of the locations that we were visiting. So we took the time to exhaustively plan our trip and the locations we’d visit and the ideal times.
However, not all things went the way we planned. Some places were closed early due to the public holidays and there were others that were simply over-crowded.
We had to accept the situation as it is and improvise accordingly. This is what makes travel one of the greatest adventures. It really pushes you out of your comfort zone and makes you think out of the box.
It’s Never Too Late To Change:
Travel is all about change. You learn so much about yourself while on the road. It’s an introspective process that forces you to reflect on your life and who you are.
In the last few days, we had to change many of our plans at the last minute due to various unexpected circumstances. We had to make a lot of decisions based on our gut-feel and get moving and this made the whole experience worthwhile.
You Become More Connected With The World Around You:
Hampi is among one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. The place reminds you of ancient times and you’ll be flabbergasted, when you think about how people lived 500 years ago.
Some of the things that we take for granted today couldn’t even be thought of by the people back then. And yet, they were able to create incredible structures and inventions that stand the test of time.
Such kinds of experiences can truly help you connect with the world and the nature around us… which we take for granted in our daily lives.
In my experience, I’d rate these 4 days as one of my best days in the last couple of months when it comes to learning and experiencing things.
I personally believe that traveling is one of the best ways to expand your mind and transform your life around.
